My Approach:

I work (w)holistically. That is, I believe that we are born innately whole. We adopt certain contracted or fragmented ways of being as adaptations to trauma. Trauma can include abuse, accidents, systemic oppression, or even things as insidious as reoccurring shaming from our primary caregivers. In response, we shut down, make ourselves small, and our lives become a broken record of limiting beliefs and behaviors. Although these contracted ways of being may have kept us safe in the past, we can hold on to them long after the traumatic circumstances have passed, or long after we are capable of healthier ways of dealing with stress. These ways of being become habituated, and limit our access to our full potential and to experiencing the love and beauty that is all around us.

Through counseling, we can:

- Mindfully explore and understand your ways of being.

- Learn to discern the difference between fears that are stored in your memory, and what is actually happening now.

- Let go of ways of being that are no longer serving you, revealing the wealth of personal power that is hiding beneath.

- Find healthy alternatives to your coping strategies that are aligned with enhanced awareness and personal strength.

I work primarily using body awareness in the present moment. I may offer transpersonal, mindfulness, or expressive arts tools to help you come back into alignment with Nature and your higher self.

How I Work

“Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.”-Rumi

As a therapist, I keep my client’s wholeness and higher nature in mind, even if he or she is not presently in touch with it. I believe experiencing our wholeness is the most powerful medicine available to us, and I work in a way that facilitates clients' access to their wholeness.
